Designed by David Dyer Saddles in collaboration with Ideal, the DJ Monoflap Pony GP Saddle was created specifically to give smaller riders a closer, more secure feel on broad ponies.
Wide pony saddles can inevitably create bulk beneath a little rider’s seat and leg, particularly with a traditional dual-flap construction. For children with shorter legs, this can make it harder to feel close to the pony and maintain a naturally balanced position. The DJ uses a monoflap design to significantly reduce that bulk, allowing the rider’s leg to sit closer to the pony for improved feel, communication and stability.
Built on Ideal’s WR12 open-head tree, the saddle has been designed with the broader, more defined-withered pony in mind – particularly the type of conformation often seen in Welsh Section A ponies.
The saddle is made in split bull leather, chosen for its beautifully soft, grippy feel while still offering the durability needed from a hardworking children’s saddle. A soft, slim and broad panel helps the saddle mould comfortably around the pony while keeping the rider as close as possible.
Finished with distinctive blue welting, the DJ combines a smart, modern appearance with a design developed around the needs of both pony and young rider.
Key features:
This saddle was designed after much demand from our retailers who were familiar with the fit of our Suzannah Dressage saddle. The 1650 GP is an all-purpose saddle constructed on the same tree as the Suzannah with the exception of the stirrup bars being located slightly further forward enabling a more all-purpose riding position. We recommend this saddle for Hacking, Flatwork, Hunting, General Riding, Training and Jumping!
This particular saddle was made on the Tonisha tree, low round cantle everything standard made.
